Daredevil jumps from jagged clifface thought to be the most dangerous mountain in all of Russia
This nerve shredding video shows a base jumper leaping from one of Russia’s most dangerous mountain ranges.
Filmed with the use of a GoPro camera, the nail biting footage shows adrenalin junkie, Ratmir Nagimyanov, 30, tip-toeing towards the edge of a cliff before making a death defying leap of faith.
After plummeting through the air, the Russian manages to avoid the razor sharp rock face before skimming the past the branches of a tree.
Located a staggering 3000 metres above sea level, the Erydag Mountains in Dagestan lie at Russia’s southernmost point making it a must-see for wingsuit enthusiasts the world over.
Known for its notoriously dangerous surroundings, the mountains have claimed the lives of several base jumpers and alpinists already including one of Ratmir’s friends back in 2013.
But despite the knee trembling heights and obvious perils, this didn’t stop Ratmir from putting on his wingsuit and taking the plunge in search of the ultimate joy ride.
Ratmir said: “We were warned that Dagestan is a very dangerous place, probably the most dangerous place in all of Russia.
“The first jump at this location was done by Gleb Vorevodin in 2013 and just a couple seconds before the jump, the stone he was standing on cracked and he narrowly avoided falling.
“Three months after this jump our friend, Maxim Makanchuk, then tragically died here and during 2002, a helicopter crashed during some foggy weather killing 10 people.
“Although the height is nearly 3000 metres, the flight time is just 45 seconds, the speed takes your breath away.
“At some points I get so close to rock face that I can see every little stone and drop of snow on its edges.
“The views are like nowhere else on Earth and it felt fantastic to see this place.”
