Daddy’s buying us the zoo tomorrow! Family get to grips with more than 300 animals after snapping up zoo for £625,000
Forget Daddy taking them to the zoo – this dad BOUGHT the zoo for his kids.
Dean Tweedy and his wife Tracy snapped up the Animalarium Borth Zoo, leaving their former home in Milton Regis, Kent to take up residence with hundreds of animals at the zoo in Ceredigion, Wales with three daughters Paige, eight, Sarah, nine, and Sophie, 13.
The animal-mad family now have snakes, meerkats, wallabies – and even LIONS in the back garden.
The family, who already have 30 pets of their own, were looking for a petting farm so psychotherapist, Tracy, could incorporate more animals into her work.
But after spotting the zoo for sale online the pair were unable to resist and quickly bagged the bizarre buy.
The family have now moved nearly 300 miles across the country to start their new life as zookeepers.
The zoo is home to more than 300 animals including lions, leopards, crocodiles, snakes and an albino wallaby – and a team of zoo keepers.
The extraordinary tale is reminiscent of the hit film “We Bought a Zoo” which sees Benjamin Mee, played by Matt Damon, purchase a zoo with his family.
Artist Dean, 48, said friends and family were astounded when he told them about their unusual purchase.
He said: “We were looking for a petting farm but prices in Kent were expensive so we started looking further afield and that’s when we found the zoo.
“It was everything we wanted plus lions so we couldn’t resist.
“We already have 30 pets so we’re used to living with animals but this is obviously on a whole new level.
“It’s a dream come true for the kids they’re loving every minute.
“When we tell people what we’ve done we often have to repeat ourselves a few times before they realise they haven’t misheard us.”
