Most people would hate to be upstaged at their wedding but these brides clearly don’t have that worry – after inviting llamas and alpacas to their big day.

As these bizarre pictures show, brides and grooms are jumping at the chance to pose with furry llamas and alpacas following their nuptials thanks to an idea dreamed up by an animal therapy centre.

The centre, called Mtn Peaks Therapy Llamas and Alpacas based in Washington, USA, are offering their animals up as fun, furry wedding guests.

Brides and grooms-to-be can invite the cuddly creatures to their wedding, where they will happily pose for pictures, interact with guests and even don veils, bow ties and tiny top hats for the special occasion.

Available for hire are llamas, Rojo and Smokey and alpacas Napoleon and Jean-Pierre.

Lori Gregory, president of the animal therapy centre runs the organisation alongside her daughter, Shannon Joy.

She said despite only offering the service at locations within two hours of their home to stop the animals getting distressed, demand was growing fast with 12 weddings booked for this year alone.

She said: “Our animals are pros when it comes to parties and special events.

“Always decorated to compliment, our llamas can easily handle all ages, and any size of crowd.

They’re more than just entertainment. We provide a unique interactive experience for guests, that most have never experienced before and smiles that will last forever.

“We specialise in therapy animals but we did a wedding for someone a while back and posted a few pictures on Facebook. Straight away other people started contacting us.

“Since then we’ve just had more and more interest and this year we are doing more than a dozen weddings.

“The llamas and alpacas have a herd instinct, they don’t like to be separated for too long so we can only do weddings which are a maximum of two hours away really.

“We’ve always incorporated the dressing up as part of their therapy training so they’re used to it.

Rojo has been working as a therapy animal for 15 years so he is a real pro. You can take him anywhere and he will just have a great time.”
