Is this photographic proof that Richard III haunts Leicester Cathedral? These ghostly images might just show Richard’s face in the cathedral’s stone slabs.
The spooky images were snapped by medium and psychic artist Christine Hamlett, 58, from Northwich, Cheshire, who believes she felt Richard’s presence in the cathedral.
Richard, who has often been vilified in history, was re-interred in the cathedral in on 26 March 2015 after his remains were discovered in 2012.
Christine, who visited the Cathedral as a tourist on Monday September 7, said: “I felt totally calm inside the cathedral – I could feel a calming presence and I think it might have been Richard.
“I always take pictures and send out my thoughts when I visit places and when I looked back at the pictures of the slabs afterwards I was stunned – I saw Richard’s face staring back at me.
“I’ve felt drawn to Richard for quite some time so it was a real privilege to visit. I did feel a bit strange, I’m used to reaching out to spirits but I felt weirdly reassured, it was unusual.
“As soon as I arrived I felt a calming, authoritative presence and I was struck by how small the cathedral is on the inside – there’s no doubt that Richard’s tomb takes pride and place.”
The much-maligned King has had a tough time in the history books but has enjoyed a bit of a revival since his remains were discovered three years ago.
Christine believes that the spirit she felt in the cathedral was calm, content and finally at peace.
She said: “It felt like he was finally at peace and in his rightful place.
“A car park is no place for a King to be buried but there was a peaceful aura around his tomb – it was as if his spirit appreciated being in a fit and proper place.
“I wanted to pay him my respects because his time as King has had a bad press. I know that and I’m sympathetic, I think he felt that.
“I invite the spirits to reveal themselves to me and take the photographs – my friends call me the psychic paparazzi.
“When I look at the photos on my computer, I lighten and darken the photos, as sometimes that can help the spirits reveal themselves.”
