Face of Thrones: Amateur makeup artist magically transforms her face into Game of Thrones characters
An amateur makeup artist magically transforms her face into Game of Thrones characters.
Talented Claire Bryant turns her feminine features into perfect mirrors of bearded leads Khal Drogo, Jon Snow and The Hound.
The 27-year-old spends hours painstakingly creating latex prosthetics and accessorising wigs before she even starts applying her war paint.
Claire, from Birmingham, West Mids, doesn’t just recreate their faces, she applies their house sigils – including the three dragons on Danaerys Targaryen’s face – in the style of designer Hilary Heffron.
Claire said: “I’m a real Game of Thrones geek.
“The faces are so distinctive but to set myself apart I wanted to do something different.
“I adore Hilary’s designs and she has gratefully let me use them.
“Adding the sigils – like Jon Snow’s crow – really gives them a unique element.”
Each transformation takes Claire between three and four hours to complete, but that doesn’t include the time she takes to make her own prosthetics and wigs.
For example, to recreate The Hound’s features as closely as possible, Claire moulded her own facial scars by carefully melting latex over a lamp.
In addition, she also cut wigs to various lengths to reconstruct his mucky hair, and also to recreate Khal Drogo’s beard.
Claire said: “There’s a lot of preparation that goes into the makeup.
“To make the hair for The Hound I had to woman’s wig, I had to cut it down to a shorter length.
“Then I spent an hour or so working mousse and shampoo in to make his hair look grotty and grimey.
“It looks more similar to where he’s trekking around with Arya Stark at the end of the last season.”
Claire’s hard work has even had recognition from one of the cast members, with Jason Momoa – who played Khal Drogo in the hit show’s first season – sharing her recreation of his face on Instagram.
Claire said: “When he shared my work it was amazing.
“The notification popped up on my phone and it was a real fan girl moment.
“To be recognised for my work like that was incredible.”
Thrones-addicted Claire – whose favourite character is Arya Stark – is now deciding on which other persona to turn herself into.
She said: “I really want to do Arya and Joffrey.
“The difficult part with them is how small their faces are.
“I’d have to stretch their features to fit my face, which could look really odd if not done properly.”
