Baby born with eight limbs causes chaos in Indian town as people flock to see the ‘reincarnation of Hindu God’
A baby boy born with four arms and four legs is causing chaos in a sleepy Indian town as locals believe he is the reincarnation of a God.
The child, who was born in the Giridih district of Jharkhand on Saturday, has attracted hundreds of worshippers who believe he is Hindu deity Ganesha.
Since the birth of the baby, who is still to be named, the otherwise sleepy Dumri-Isri area has turned into a pilgrimage destination.
The birth defect, two extra arms and two extra legs, is thought to be the remains of an underdeveloped co-joined twin.
Kuntalesh Pandey travelled 115km from Hazaribagh to get a glimpse of the boy.
He said: “When a friend first sent me a picture I wrote it off as a photoshopped but when he confirmed that it is real I came to see the baby straight away.”
Nurse, Sarita Devi, added: “We are taking great care of the baby.”
The condition of mum, Ureda Khatun, is unknown.
