Amazing artist creates lifelike masterpieces using the human body
An incredible body artist has created masterpieces using the human body as a canvas – that are so lifelike you have to look twice.
Gesine Marwedel, 27, from Eckernförde, Germany and has mastered the art of body painting and has produced these stunning works of art which depict a stork, penguins a seahorse and a selection of various abstract shapes all painted on the human form.
Gesine, who also works as a speech therapist, said: “I always used to paint on canvas and then put my work on the internet. One day I had a request to paint on a face and that was where my body paining started.
“The joy of painting and working so closely with people is a main passion for me.
“I do lots of commissioned body paintings which are presents for partners but body painting can also be a present to the subject, as it feels exciting and good to transform into something else.
“I also use it for patients in the therapy, especially for breast cancer patients.”
Each of Gesine’s stunning art works can take anywhere between four to seven hours to paint on a body and some more intricate designs can even take up to 12 hours.
Gesine said: “After the photoshoot the art can be washed away in minutes, but it is so exciting to paint on a body and watch the subject transform.”
