Teenager arrested after flipping car through garden wall and smashing through parked vehicles windscreen and roof

A teenager has been arrested after flipping his Renault Clio through a garden wall and landing on a parked vehicle.

The black vehicle came to rest on a people carrier after smashing through its windscreen and roof.

The 18-year-old driver has been detained on suspicion of dangerous driving, taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and possessing two bags of cannabis.

Police chased him after he failed to stop for officers in Birmingham, West Midlands, just before 12.30am today (September 30).

Chief Inspector Julian Harper from West Midlands Police said: “The manner in which the car was being driven immediately caused concern.

“The car made off from police but seconds later clipped a kerb and smashed into a car parked on a driveway.

“The parked car suffered extensive damage and was also shunted backwards into the property, demolishing much of the porch area.

“It’s fortunate that the driver escaped largely unhurt and that no-one at the address was injured.

“Officers have made contact with the owner of the Clio and enquiries are on-going.”

The driver remains in police custody and is due to be questioned about the crash later today.

Wrecked: The 18-year-old driver took the car without consent but no one was injured, police said.
