Moment lunatic mum dangerously eggs road aware tot into the road on green light!
This is the outrageous moment a ‘lunatic’ mum stood in the middle of a busy road while beckoning her safety-conscious tot to cross – on a GREEN LIGHT.
Dad-of-two Kevin Smith filmed the oblivious woman marching across the busy crossing, seemingly unaware her little girl hadn’t followed her until she reached the other side.
In the 23-year-old’s dashcam footage switched-on drivers hold off despite the lights changing to green while the mum spends nearly 30 seconds egging on her daughter, who is patiently waiting at the crossing, to cross the road.
Transport operator Kevin said he was appalled to spot the mum’s ‘lack of awareness’ as he drove through his home town of Kettering, Northants.
Kevin said: “I didn’t take much notice at the start, until the mum just stop in the middle of the road.
“I was completely shocked, I couldn’t believe that a parent would be so unaware of where their child was.
“The mum didn’t seem to see the traffic at all, she was just stood there waving and trying to coax the child to move across the road.
“Her child, who can’t have been older than three, seemed to know more about road safety and have more road sense than her mother did. She was waiting by the button, so well done to her.
“The lights must have been green for at least 30 seconds before she realised. A car behind me beeped and then she looked, and that’s when she realised she should get off the road.
“I think she eventually took the girl’s hand on the other side of the road, but the whole thing should never really have happened.”
In Kevin’s footage it is only when the mum finally clocks the green light and waiting cars after nearly 30 seconds in the road that she heads back over to her sensible daughter.
The dad-of-two, who has a three-year-old daughter, Faith, and baby son Kayden, one, with wife Charlotte said being a father made him even more shocked by the woman’s behaviour.
He said: “I was surprised to see it even more so because I’ve got two children.
“The little girl looked to be about the same age as my little girl. I know where my little girl is all the time, especially around roads.
“Even if she doesn’t want to I always make sure she is holding my hand. And crossing the road is always the one where that’s most important.
“If a motorbike had been behind me and just thought I wasn’t moving at a green light, then they could have overtaken and the child had moved to cross the road that could have been a motorbike and child colliding.
“Who knows what could have happened. The first thing I did when I got home was to plug the computer in and said to my wife, ‘sit down and watch this lunatic.’ She couldn’t believe it.”
