Thought-provoking art uses children as famous and classic horror characters – with terrifying results
This terrifying photography art shows horrific images of children as famous and classic horror characters.
Brit Bentine, from Houston, Texas, has created the disturbing series of photos using extravagant make-up, costumes and backdrops.
The 31-year-old – who has been a photographer for six years – claims she’s inspired by everything she sees and wants the images to be open to interpretation.
She creates the horror scenes by herself and works with make-up artist such as Lady Bertina, Kristen St James and Angela Jarman to get the perfect terrifying look.
Brit said: “I’ve always enjoyed working with children and I think it just fit because it isn’t something you see everyday in these themes in photography.
“As weird as it sounds I want everyone to have their own interpretation, the message is simple – what do you see?
“I’m literally inspired by everything, especially stuff like paintings, music, fashion, dreams etc.
“I’ve had so much feedback from people and it seems that they usually either love it or really hate it – honestly though, most of the hate comes from the world of the internet.”
Brit sources her amazing costumes for the shoots from all over the world – and works with Staci Rizner on some custom made designs.
Some of her work is inspired by characters from horror films such as Edward Scissorhands, Jigsaw and the Joker.
With other images, Brit uses inspiration from all over the world to create her thought-provoking horror image art.
Brit said: “I just love working with children, they have a lot of fun with it and are just natural in front of the camera.
“Also when I first started shooting these looks I was photographing my own children.
“I can work with children as young as 1 year, when working with babies however less make-up is used and more editing is involved.
“This isn’t just a project for Halloween either, it’s something I’ve been working on all year round.”
