Terri-spying encounter! Time lapse video shows graffiti artist creating realistic 3D spider image
Incredible time lapse footage shows a graffiti artist creating a terrifyingly realistic 3D spider which appears to jump out from the wall it is painted on.
Portuguese muralist painter Sérgio Odeith took just minutes to create the huge arachnid on three walls in an abandoned building in his home city of Lisbon.
A video shows him using clever effects to create the optical illusion the 3.5 metre high (11ft 5ins) eight-legged beast is running straight towards the viewer.
Secretive Sérgio would not reveal the exact tools and materials he used to create the dramatic artwork, but said his fans had been impressed by the illusion when he shared it on Instagram : http://www.instagram.com/odeith/.
The 42-year-old said: “I created the 3D work at my studio a few weeks ago and then went to an abandoned place to do the painting.
“Exactly how I created it is a secret I would like to keep for myself.
“But in my opinion, the result looked as good as I imagined.
“When people saw the video some of them did not believe it was a real painting.
“My fans really enjoyed this painting and the video was a good tool to show my followers the before and after.
“I chose a spider because since I was a kid I’ve always loved these little animals.
“In this case it’s not little, but I’m pretty fascinated by these lovely and scary creatures.”
