Ingenious symbolised t-shirt allows travellers to communicate in any language
This t-shirt is enough to take the words right out of your mouth – as it allows wearers to communicate in any language.
The Iconspeak t-shirt is targeted a worldly travellers, and is printed with nearly 40 icons of common discussion points.
Its symbols cover the likes of hotels, banks, telephones and first aid, allowing the wearer to simply point at what they are looking to find.
Iconspeak is the brainchild of Swiss travel addicts Florian Nast, George Horn and Stefan Streit, who came up with the idea while travelling through Vietnam in 2013.
When a motorbike broke down, George needed a way express their need for a local mechanic – symbols seemed the most logical choice to counter the language barrier.
After writing the symbols on a sheet of paper, the travellers then used the same technique for different situations throughout the world.
In late 2015, the group, all located in different parts of the world, decided to make their t-shirt idea a reality.
Through the likes of Skype conversations, they narrowed down a list of inoffensive symbols and now sell the t-shirts online.
Steven said: “We really love that our product allows people to communicate anywhere and is getting the international traction we were hoping for.
“We have customers from all over the world, which really shows us that the language we try to develop is international.
“The feedback and suggestions we receive these days are amazing.
“We will keep developing it – and its applications.”
