These stunning images show the magical moment an swimmer playing with MANTA RAYS at night.

In her latest daring adventure, Alison Teal, 30 went free diving with the giant creatures off the coast of Hawaii, USA.

Using only hand held dive lights, Alison dived 50 feet being careful not to touch the mantas as they fed off the plankton in the light streams.

Manta Rays, who are harmless to humans, filter plankton for their dinner.

The special moment was captured by photographer Sarah Lee, while Mark Tipple filmed the adventure.

Alison said: “Night swimming with manta rays is like sky diving with spaces ships – so peaceful, so gentle.

“We must do all we can to protect these gentle giants of the sea.”

Over the past decade mantas have become increasing at risk of extinction due pollution, plastic, fishing nets, and harvesting their gill rakers for Chinese medicine.

Research shows Mantas are the slowest to reproduce of all sharks, with only 5-15 offspring per year and the threat to their extinction is rapidly escalating.

The team hopes the photo series will shine a light on the plight of these gentle giants.
