Stripey! That’s a confusing picture! Are these siamese zebras spotted in the Namib plains – or just a clever illusion?
This is the moment two zebra’s stripes blended so perfectly that they appear to be SIAMESE ZEBRAS.
The mind-boggling capture clearly shows one head, which seemingly belongs to two bodies.
However, it is in fact just an optical illusion which is the result of a well-timed shot by Gal Zanir, 24.
The Israeli student and enthusiastic traveler was camping out in the middle of the vast Namib desert when he spotted a herd of zebras.
He describes how the zebras were all standing close together, to protect the accompanying zebra babies.
Gal said: “We opened our tent and see a zebra herd, I jumped off of my sleeping bag and I got some pictures of them
They kept on standing on the guard of their young ones, getting closer while I take their picture as they were blending into each other.
I actually found their special camouflage in the picture only when I go back home – couple of months afterwards. It was stunning, and I can’t forget that morning.
I took thousands of pictures while traveling Africa and I truly think that this unique image is something which I will never be able to remake
