See you later alligator! Man braves alligator pool in epic rescue jump
How many people would readily jump into a pool of alligators? Well, this man did when he saw one injured and jumped in to rescue.
Jason Mcdonald, 34, works closely with alligators at the Colorado Gator Farm in Colorado where he was slacklining over the pool and saw the injured gator.
The video, filmed on June 7, shows Jason on the slackline when he saw the Alligator had been fighting and needed medical attention due to puncture wounds on his front and a long cut on his back legs.
Jason said: “I was just slacklining over the pool when that gator popped up and I knew there was something wrong straight away.
“This time of year is breeding season at the farm so many of the gators get territorial and fight – this one isn’t the biggest in the pond so it looks like he’s been attacked by a bigger male.
“I hadn’t planned on catching any gators while slacklining so I didn’t even have my rope but I knew if I got off the line and walked out towards it he would submerge and I wouldn’t catch him so I decided to take the chance and jump.
“It’s a very unusual way to catch a gator and as far as I know I’m the first person to ever jump off a slackline to catch an alligator.”
The alligator is now well on the road to recovery and enjoying life in the Colorado sunshine after Jason’s incredible efforts.
