Look over hair! – Caterpillar that looks like trump’s hair spotted
This caterpillar is certainly a hairy critter – it looks just like Donald Trump’s famous do!
The flannel moth caterpillar, also known as a ‘little sheep’ in Spanish, has an unfortunate resemblance to the Republican Presidential nominee.
The caterpillar was snapped in the Peruvian Amazon by American photographer and teacher Jeff Cremer, who lives in Lima, Peru.
Jeff, 38, said: “I give photography tours in the Peruvian Amazon and while I was putting my boots on a guy said, ‘hey, there’s a cool caterpillar on a tree over there’.
“I went over to see what it was and sure enough, it was Donald Trump’s hair hanging out on a tree.
“We found one of these hanging out on a leaf a few years ago and everyone said that it looked like Donald Trump’s wig. The name just stuck.
“It looks pretty interesting because of its size and bright colour. I also think it’s interesting that although it looks really cool, it’s actually very dangerous.
“The caterpillar has urticating hairs which can cause irritation when they break off and lodge in the skin.
“In some species these structures are hollow and connected to poison producing cells.
“Generally most hairs are only irritating, but some are dangerous to the eyes and respiratory tract, and some can cause severe skin necrosis and shedding.”
