Jodi said: “It was a great trip but I had no idea this would happen.

“We spotted a whale breaching int he distance and the boat headed over as the whale continued to breach, tail lob and pec slap repeatedly.

“A couple of other whale watch boats also came to watch the show. We all followed at a respectful distance as the whale continued to entertain passengers for the next hour.

“At one point, after coming up for air, the whale turned towards our boat before diving again. The whale made an invisible right turn underwater and came up close to one of the whale watch boats unexpectedly.

“It was such a surprise! Having the boat so close really gives a sense of scale, showing just how large and powerful these animals are.”

Jodi said: “This is the closest I’ve ever seen an adult whale breach alongside a boat. The whale was close enough to rock the boat in its wake.

“Looking closely at the people in my photos, I can see open mouths of astonishment and smiles of joy on the faces of all the passengers. It was a day we will all remember.”
