He’s behind you! Diver gets a surprise when he takes a selfie – with a photobombing manta ray
He’s behind you! This photographer got a surprise when he decided to take an underwater selfie – and got photobombed by a MANTA RAY.
After swimming deep into the clear blue ocean, the diver decided to stop and take in his surroundings – but he got a shock when he realised what was creeping up behind him.
The hilarious moment was caught on camera by German photographer and conservationist Christian Miller, 38, when he was diving in Mexico’s Socorro Islands.
Christian, who lives in Australia, said: “I’ve never seen this behaviour in manta rays before!
“They are addicted to bubbles – so if you time it right to exhale when one swims above you, them bubbles touch them below and they have a joyful shiver before sinking down right on top of you.
“It’s like a free spa treatment for them!
“It’s a magical experience that I could’ve repeated all day long.
“I think the manta ray enjoyed it too, it looked like he was smiling.
“I have seen many things in the ocean, but this friendly behaviour of wild marine life was unique.
“The ocean is full of magic, and we need to do everything we can to protect it.”
