Here’s one elephant who didn’t forget to pack his trunks! Stunning pictures show man and elephant taking a ‘shower’ in lake

This is the incredible moment a man decided to take a wash on the wild side as he went for a dip in the lake with his ELEPHANT.

The man known as a mahout has been riding and caring for the elephant since he was a boy and as these stunning images show the pair have formed an incredible bond.

After a hard day’s work the pair were pictured cooling down in the lake, the mahout can be seen standing on the elephant’s back while the playful pachyderm squirted him with water from his trunk.

The photographs were taken at Chitwan National Park, near the Sauraha village in Nepal, where the elephant and mahout work together.

Elephants are used as terrain vehicles and rescue vehicles during flooding. The mahouts and elephants also patrol forests, offer elephant safaris and help with various activities for wildlife management.

The conservation and wildlife management work includes counting wildlife, rescuing injured animals and chasing wild animals from villages and farms.

Days can often be long and gruelling, with barely any rests and summer temperatures often exceeding 35c.

But at the end of the day the mahouts bathe their elephants and finally chill out.

The mahout used a stone to clean the elephant, while the elephant playfully returned the favour by using his trunk to give his carer a squirt.

Geographer and glaciologist Mariusz Potocki, 35, shot these beautiful images while visiting Nepal.

Mariusz from Orono, ME, USA, said: “Regular bath helps to keep elephants clean and lowers their body temperature.
