Curious lion chomps down on wing mirror and presses paws against car window as it peers inside vehicle
This curious lion chomped down on a wing mirror and pressed its paws against a car window as it peered inside a vehicle.
Hannetjie van der Westhuizen and her passengers were left stunned when they had close encounter of the big cat kind while driving down the S100 in South Africa’s Kruger Park.
The nosy predator started by chewing on the wing mirror, constantly wrapping its jaws around the plastic on August 14.
Quickly getting bored of the new chew toy, the lion spots the human’s inside and pressing its massive paws and nose up against the glass stares intently inside.
Hannetjie said: “Most of my 48 years of visiting the park, I have had to use binoculars and a lot of imagination to spot a lion, never ever had an encounter like this.
“We were very excited and scared at first, but then we realized that lion was more curious and playful and was just merely investigating a strange object.”
“He was seriously chewing on the tyres, and I thought those sharp teeth may damage them, so we decided to move one.”
In Kruger Park tourists can drive with the windows open, and it is recommended since you can hear the sounds of the bush.
However, if you get to a lion sighting, where the animals are really close to the road, it is recommended to keep the windows closed for situations like this.
