These curious cheetahs have sniffed out a GoPro on their family walk.

William Steel, 25, captured the snaps while following a family of cheetahs in the Okavango Delta in Northern Botswana.

The cheetah cubs were playing in the floodplains when their mother first spotted the camera, and then her inquisitive cubs came to have a look.

The snaps catch the cheetahs approaching the camera, and then as they press their noses in to have a further look.

William, a photographer, said: “Following the cheetah family it was clear that they had a direction of travel, moving from one termite mound to the next.

“I placed the GoPro a few hundred meters further along this line and hoped that the cheetah would use the termite mound as a vantage point.

“Amazingly it worked on the first attempt, from having the idea to getting the shot took no more than 10 minutes. A rare result for my line of work!

“Cheetahs are endangered and very susceptible to extinction, so it is amazing to have the opportunity to get so close to these seldom seen animals.”
