Camouflaged croc tricks photographer by playing hide and seek in leafy water

A menacing crocodile left a photographer in a fright – after gliding through water camouflaged by a carpet of algae.

Keen snapper Song Kanokrattana was looking for crocs in an algae-covered pond but was left disappointed after not spotting any.

But out of the corner of her eye, Song, 44, noticed one using algae for coverage – with just its two eyes poking through the green lake.

Song, who lives in Phuket, Thailand, was able to capture the startling moment at her local zoo.

After visiting Phuket Zoo with her niece, her photographs have become a hit online.

She said: “I wanted to see zoo staff feeding crocodiles – so walked slowly around the pond.

“When I found the pond, there were no crocodiles so I wondered where they were.

“I looked closely and talked with my niece, then, suddenly, I saw an eye pop out – like a peekaboo.

“The camouflaged crocodile looked like it was ready to attack and was certainly ready feeding time.”
