World’s ‘Most Amazing’ Theme Park Lets You Become A Knight For The Day

A theme park offers visitors the opportunity to step back in time and live as a gallant medieval knight or vicious viking.

History theme park Puy du Fou is home to four period villages which transport visitors back hundreds of years in the past to the Roman and medieval era’s as well as the 16th and 17th centuries.

Based in Les Epesses, Vendee, Western France, the theme park has over two million visitors a year and is the country’s second largest theme park.

The park was opened in 1978 and was given the title of ‘World’s Best Park’ in March 2012 in Los Angeles and once again in November 2014 in Orlando.

Set across 50 acres, the park has four period themed villages including a medieval city with traditional craft workshops, an 18th century village, market hall and even a manned viking fortress.

Puy du Fou has five themed hotels including the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and Ancient Rome as well as 50 acres of forest and gardens.

The citadel accommodates guests in medieval splendour in a unique castle setting while a Roman villa transports visitors back to the decadence of Caesar.

Other hotel’s include a lake island and a mock-up of the Field of the Cloth of Gold.

Each night guests enjoy a live show with thousands of performers who recreate iconic moments from history including a viking raid and chariot race.

Six shows are also performed to visitors daily and last up to 40 minutes.

Visitors are also treated to a stunning water fountain display at the park’s lake each night.

The park also boasts other immersive experience including a recreated WW1 trench and a bird of prey enclosure.
