Stunning timelapse of beautiful new Zealand scenery following earthquake horror
This stunning timelapse footage showing beautiful New Zealand scenery will take your breath away.
It was created by photographer Paul Wilson, from Christchurch, who sat up all night to put together the video – to bring a smile to people’s faces following the horrific earthquake.
The serene video shows calm blue waters, rolling hills and dramatic mountain landscapes lit up by stars across New Zealand’s south island, including Tumbledown Bay near the quake’s centre.
Paul, 29, said: “I was inspired by the earthquake – I was awake most of the night, so I sat at my computer and edited this clip together.
“I love all the cliffs and locations – and I hope they are still there.
“I love watching and remembering the time I shot that sunset – it was very surprising, as the colour died down and I thought it was over, but then it came back again.
“I also love how the pond looks like a whirlpool.
“All I was seeing in my Facebook newsfeed was quake-related stuff, so I uploaded it for people to watch if they wanted to take their mind off things.
“At the heart of it all, I’m an adventurer – it all comes down to discovery, be it gazing up at the night sky emblazoned with light emitting from billions of galaxies, or observing the plethora of emotions shared between two people destined to spend an eternity together.
“I love seeing the results in the back of my camera, and having a clear view of the universe above me.”
