Photographer captures violent lightning storm with striking photoshop image and time lapse video
A photographer has managed to capture the true ferocity of a violent lightning storm by using photoshop to combine each strike into a single picture.
After hearing reports of a particularly ferocious storm developing in the area, Slovakian photographer, Tomas Hulik, 38, decided to set his camera up in the window of his 12th floor apartment in the hope of catching the moment on camera.
Luckily, Tomas was not disappointed and over an 81 minute time frame Tomas was able to document each individual strike, later using multiple exposures to blend the bolts into a single image using photoshop know-how.
The result is an incredible but none-the-less foreboding image as well a spectacular time lapse video that shows the storm lighting up the skies over the suburbs of Devinska Nova Ves, Bratislava, Slovakia.
Even as a keen weather photographer, Tomas was taken aback by the intensity of the storm and admits it was the most violent lightning storm he had ever encountered.
Tomas said: “I had heard that there was going to be a chance of some serious lightning in the area so I knew I had to try and capture it.
“I set up my camera from the 12th floor of my apartment, it has a great view of the surrounding suburbs and has a great backdrop for weather shots.
“During the 81 minutes, I could not count how many lightning strikes there were but it was the most I have ever seen in a single storm.
“The sound was incredible and lit up the night sky like I have never seen before, it was a constant barrage of lightning, I must admit, there was even some points when I felt a little nervous.
“I knew it would make for a wonderful photoshop composition and I could not be happier with the time lapse video, there is something truly fascinating about this kind of extreme weather.”
