Mesmerising photos of air bubbles frozen under the ice
These gorgeous photos show air bubbles FROZEN under the ice.
Paul Zizka, from Alberta, Canada, visits the lake every year – but this is the first time he photographed the magical bubbles at sunrise.
The 37-year-old said there were thousands of bubbles trapped under the ice and he was ‘lucky’ to see them.
The bubbles form as air rises from the bottom of the lake, but freeze as they get close to the surface.
Paul said: “It was still early winter, so I wasn’t sure if the ice would be thick enough to stand on.
“Luckily it was perfect and there were thousands of bubbles trapped under the clear ice.
“I was able to put on my skates and go exploring.”
