Brr-illiant pictures reveal secret crystal landscape in a glacier
These stunning images reveal the crystal clear landscape inside a secret Austrian glacier.
Photographer Christoph Jorda, from Kaufbeuren in Bavaria, captured the breathtaking scenery at the Pitztal Glacier in Austria.
He said that although the icy wonderland is close to a ski resort it’s very difficult to find the low entrance located in the middle of a huge crevice.
Christoph, 36, said: “It was absolutely amazing in the caves, You feel the different temperatures and see different textures but it’s also kind of scary knowing that you are 300m inside an ice cave with 30m of thick ice above you.”
Christoph, along with companions Liz Kristoferitsch, Florian Hinterlang and twin brother Matthias Jorda crawled and squeezed through the cave using crampons and ice axes.
While exploring they discovered a lake and huge icicles hanging from the cave roof.
