Brave painter dangles from giant phone tower in brush with death

This plucky painter clearly wasn’t scared of a BRUSH with death as he dangled precariously from a giant phone tower – with nothing but a piece of rope and an old steel drum to stop him plummeting to the ground.

Despite his risky position, the unnamed fearless construction worker appeared happy in his work as he painted bolts on the huge 98ft structure in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

The brave painter was completely unfazed as he smiled and posed for photographs for snapper, Tami Walker, from Zimbabwe.

Tami said: “It was quite the process watching them set up. Firstly one man climbed up the inside of the tower and threw a rope over the crow’s nest to his colleagues who attached the drum.

“The man at the top then climbed down and got into the drum before being hoisted up by the others who manoeuvred him around to the different bolts.

“It’s certainly a dodgy business, if they were to let go, he would come plummeting down.

“I gave the men a copy of the photographs I took of them. The man in the barrel said that he didn’t want to get too famous from this experience as his mother still didn’t know he does this for a living. I wish I could remember that man’s name.”

Tami, the photographer who took the pictures, said: "The man in the barrel said that he didn't want to get too famous from this experience as his mother still didn't know he does this for a living."
