A fun-loving father and his adorable baby daughter have become surfing sensations in Hawaii for their impressive tandem skills.

Nine-month-old nipper Hadassah Sage Lima caught her first wave with her dad Sergio, 29, aged four months.
Now the pair are out tearing up the waves every day on the north shore of Oahu.
Their daring stunts include Sergio surfing with a delighted Hadassah carefully balanced on his outstretched hand.
With mum Carly, 29, surfing until she was 38 weeks pregnant, Hadassah fell in love with the water sport when she was still in the womb.

Carly said: “Even when I was pregnant Hadassah loved it. It was the only time she actually was still and at peace in the belly.

“She first went into the ocean at four weeks, then when she was four and a half months Sergio put her on a Stand Up paddle board with her sitting between his legs.
“It was love at first surf. She had just learned to sit up – she was this tiny baby and I was on a board next to them and very nervous.
“Hadassah kept wanting to go faster as Sergio paddled her around, so he decided to paddle out to the line-up at Pua’ena Point and try and catch a wave with her.
“She was giggling and kept trying to get in the water and loved it when a wave splashed her in the face.
“They ended up getting two waves and she couldn’t stop smiling.”

Now that the tiny tot is more confident in the water, Sergio has been able to practice some impressive balancing stunts with her.

And the father-daughter act has become a local sensation.
Carly added: “I’ve seen jaws dropping on the beach as they point out Hadassah on a wave with Sergio.
“Everyone out in the water gets so excited to see her.
“People have asked for her autograph and to take her picture.”
For her doting parents, ensuring Hadassah is safe is paramount.
Carly said: “Sergio grew up in the ocean and spends almost every day out in the waves and is surprisingly a very cautious person.

“I wouldn’t trust anyone else to do what he does. He reads each wave and knows the risks and is very picky with which wave he will actually take her on.

“He looks for people around, the size and steepness of the wave, how many waves are coming behind them.
“They have never fallen, or even come close which is a relief for a worried mum.”
Sergio Lima, 29, a former pro who learnt to surf aged two, started a surf school in 2011 named Island Style Surf School.
He said: “What I love most is seeing her happiness as we take off on a wave together. She flaps her arms and squeals with joy and it just makes my heart want to burst.
“I love to be able to share my passion and knowledge for the ocean with her and to be able to watch her thrive.
“She and I both love the adrenaline and that daddy-daughter time.

“If she ends up surfing as a pro, I want to be with her for every moment of it, supporting her and cheering her on.

“I never had a father to teach me anything and I was nervous to be a dad.

“I want to be able to teach my daughter all about this wonderful world around her and be a father who is there for her always.

“I want to teach her about Ohana and following God and about respecting the ocean.
“She loves to try anything with me and trusts me hundred percent.
“Being a father has been the best experience in my life so far and I can’t wait to learn and grow with my daughter.”
