This tower really did become these climbers’ stairway to heaven.

Having reached the top, Alexander Nomernoy and his friend were above the clouds.

Using selfie sticks and balancing right on the edge of a tower‘s 350m platform, they were able to take dramatic selfies of themselves with the landscape stretching out beneath them.

Alexander, an 18-year-old student from Moscow, Russia, started the extreme hobby four years ago.

He said: “I first tried to get to the top of the highest building in Moscow, and it was an adrenaline rush unlike anything I’ve ever felt.

“Since then I have not been able to stop.

“For this climb I went to the TV and radio tower near Galich, in Russia’s Kostromskaya Oblast.

The tower is not in use. In fact, it has never been used.

“It was built in the 1990s, around the time that the USSR collapsed, and despite numerous promises to use it they never have.

“But that’s better for me, because it means there is no one there and it’s easier to get to the top of it.

“However, it can also be very dangerous and no one knows the condition of the tower.”
